On October 20, 2023, an event co-organized by International Department of CPC Central Committee and People's Daily was held at Taihe Institute (TI), with the goal of encouraging exchanges between Eurasian media leaders and Chinese experts on topics including people-to-people exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Eurasian geopolitics, international public outreach, and media cooperation.
The media delegation included representatives from different mainstream outlets in the region, including Rossiyskaya Gazeta, TASS, Russia Today, EMG, Komsomolskaya Pravda, and TV BRICS from Russia, Belarus Segodnya Publishing House from Belarus, DK News Agency, Kazakhstan Today, Silkroad News of International News Agency KazTAG, and online newspaper "Vedomosti of Kazakhstan" from Kazakhstan, newspaper "People's Word" from Uzbekistan, Sogdiyskaya Pravda and Avesta Information Agency from Tajikistan, the electronic newspaper "Turkmenistan: Golden Age" from Turkmenistan, "Erkin-Too" Newspaper and Vecherniy Bishkek from Kyrgyz, Azerbaijan State News Agency AZERTAC, Geoecohub.ge from Georgia, and INFOTAG News Agency and Teleradio-Moldova from Moldova.
Deputy Director Xu Bo and Division Director of Branding & Promotions Qiu Hui from the External Relations Department of People's Daily, Deputy Division Director of the International Exchange Center Zheng Wenjie, Level III Principal Staff Member of the Coordination Bureau Zhao Yiming, and Staff of the Coordination Bureau Yin Tong from the International Department of CPC Central Committee, Head of the China Society for Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies Li Yongquan, Researcher of the State Information Center Xu Hui, TI Senior Fellow Qian Feng, TI Editor-in-Chief Song Xiaofeng, and TI Deputy Secretary-General Wang Yuge joined the meeting.
At the event, participants conducted candid in-depth exchanges and found common understandings on multiple issues. Going forward, Taihe Institute will utilize this opportunity to expand communications and cooperation with Eurasian media to enhance recognition and understanding between China and Eurasian nations, facilitating the high-quality development of the BRI.
