On October 10, 2020, a ceremony was held to welcome Mr. Zeng Hu as a senior fellow of the Taihe Institute.
Mr. Zeng Hu, a retired journalist from China’s Xinhua News Agency, started his career as a foreign correspondent with the Agency’s Tokyo Bureau in mid-1980s. Before his retirement, he was the Bureau Chief of the Agency’s United Nations Office and the Director of the Xinhua North America Regional Bureau and then Director of the Xinhua Middle East Regional Bureau. His career with Xinhua in international news reporting spanned over three decades, which witnessed the trade frictions between Japan and the U.S. in the 1980s, the Asian financial turmoil in late 1990s, the U.S. presidential election and the subprime mortgage-triggered world financial crisis in 2008, the Second Revolution in Egypt in 2013 and other important international news events. He had sit-down interviews with many key figures in the world news spotlight, such as former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and other movers and shakers in regional and world news field.
The joining of Mr. Zeng Hu will further strengthen the research capacity of the Taihe Institute in, among others, the fields of international politics, public opinion and communication.
