Mr. Rashid Alimov, former Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, joined the Taihe Institute as Senior Fellow

On Jan 5th, 2019, a ceremony was held to welcome Mr. Rashid Alimov, former Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, to join the Taihe Institute. Certain Senior Researchers and Council members of the Taihe Institute attended the event.

Mr. Rashid Alimov has successively served as the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of Tajikistan,  member of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of the Soviet Union, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations and China, and Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Mr. Alimov has extensive diplomatic experience and broad international vision, with particularly sharp insights on international and regional issues and the development of the “Belt and Road”.

The joining of Mr. Alimov will greatly enhance the research strength of Taihe Institute in the fields of international relations, people-to-people exchanges, and the “Belt and Road”related studies. Meanwhile, together with Mr. Alimov, the Taihe Institute will also contribute wisdom and energy to exchanges between China and the world, and the harmonious development of all mankind.
